During summer, most locals can be seen wearing beach gear. Ultra-violet rays are especially strong in Australia and you are advised to keep your arms and legs covered and to use a broad hat and sunglasses. A word of caution: The sun is at its hottest between 12 noon and 3 p.m. Ross River fever occasional breaks during summer, and travelers are advised to use mosquito repellents if staying out.
In winter, temperatures can range from 0°C to 15°C. Visitors are advised to pack warm clothing. Though the weather is pleasant during that time of the year, the winter breeze can be extremely cold and chances of picking up respiratory illnesses are high.
