From the Airport | Getting Around Singapore

With innovation and quality service in mind, Singapore offers world-class transportation services to enhance the nation's economic competitiveness and the people's quality of life. This makes getting from point A to point B in Singapore not only easy, but also economical. An efficient public transportation network gives you a choice of taxis, buses or the modern Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) rail system.

Buses

You can easily get from one point to another by bus with a TransitLink Fare Card, which can also be used on the MRT. SBS bus 36 runs between Orchard Road and Changi Airport.

Fares: S$0.60 to S$1.20 (non air-conditioned); S$0.70 to S$1.50 (air-conditioned). Exact fare is required. Check with the bus driver on the appropriate fare for your destination.

Operating hours: From 6:00 a.m. till 12:00 a.m.

Tourist Day Ticket: Priced at S$10, this allows you to take up to 12 rides within the day, regardless of distance traveled, on the MRT and all basic-fare bus services (SBS and TIBS). You will need to inform the ticketing officer of the exact date you wish to use the card as it is printed on the card and valid only for that day. Tickets can be bought up to seven days in advance at any TransitLink Ticket Sales Office located at most MRT stations and bus interchanges.

SIA Hop-on: Hop onto this trolley bus service and explore the shopping, cultural, and entertainment areas within the city. The SIA Hop-on route includes Orchard Road, Bugis Junction, Suntec City, the Colonial District, Clarke Quay, and the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Fares (day pass): S$5 for adults; S$3 for children
Visitors to Singapore traveling on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir are entitled to free rides on the SIA Hop-on. Simply present your boarding pass or airticket.

Operating hours: 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (daily), leaving every 30 minutes (45 minutes during off-peak hours)

MRT

The Singapore Mass Rapid Transit is a modern, air-conditioned passenger train service with stations all over the city. There are two main lines – one from Marina Bay to Jurong East via Woodlands, and the other from Pasir Ris to Boon Lay. You can get a copy of "A Quick Guide to MRT Travel" from the Station Control Rooms at all MRT stations. For more information on both the MRT and bus services, you can refer to the TransitLink Guide which is sold for S$1.50 at most MRT stations and bus interchanges, as well as at major bookstores.

Frequency: Trains operate at intervals of between 2.5 and 8 minutes from 5:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. daily.

Fares: Traveling on the MRT is cheap, with fares ranging from S$0.70 to a maximum of S$1.60. Instead of using cash, you can pay your MRT and bus fares with a stored value TransitLink Farecard. The Farecard can be bought or revalued at any TransitLink Ticket Sales Office. Each adult Farecard is sold with a minimum value of S$12 comprising S$2 deposit and S$10 travel value. There is also a S$7 tourist souvenir ticket costing S$5.50 available at MRT stations in the city.
