Remember to drive on the left, but it's advisable to leave the driving to a
local. The roads are in bad shape and the lanes not properly marked.
There's a lot of jaywalking, cows rambling on the roads, and even people
sleeping on the road dividers.
During office hours, finding parking space in the city is difficult.
Parking on the streets is free, but some busier areas, the city government
has started levying a fee.
The rate is about 5 rupees per hour, 8 rupees for two hours, 11 for three
hours, 17 for five hours and 32 for 10 hours.
Car
There are car rental counters open 24 hours at the airport. Self_drive cars
are not available.

City transport
Foreign visitors will find the general state of traffic and transportation in Mumbai very chaotic. For going around town, taxis, auto-rickshaws, buses and trains are available.
The heart of the city is fairly easy to traverse, but getting from one end to the other can take time as the state government has undertaken massive
flyover construction projects.
It is not advisable for a visitor to take the bus or train. They are
horribly crowded and confusing. Though suburban trains are plenty, try
traveling on one of those only during the off-peak periods, and only in
first class. There are air conditioned buses on some routes, but they rare.
In the suburbs, auto-rickshaws are the most common mode of transport. They
charge 7.50 rupees at flagfall. Pay around 7-1/2 times what appears on the
meter.
