Local Flavors

Perhaps the most famous of Malaysian dishes is the beef rendang, which consists of beef cubes simmered in thick gravy for a long period such that the meat crumbles into fine strips when eaten. This is usually paired with a rice cake ketupat or glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk, the lemang. Such a meal can be quite filling, especially if topped off with one of the many Malaysian desserts that also feature coconut milk. full text
