Santiago is the capital of Chile. It is located in the country's central valley, at an elevation of 520 m (1,700 ft) AMSL. Besides, it has beautiful landscapes surrounding it and many attractions for tourists. Founded in 1541 by Pedro de Valdivia, Santiago is the oldest city in Chile. The city lies in center of Santiago Basin, a large bowl-shaped valley consisting of broad, fertile plain surrounded by mountains.
